Cords Against Harmony Volume 1

vol1So I’ve tried my hand at a couple of themed expansion packs, and the feedback I’ve gotten has been pretty good so far. So I’ve decided to try my hand at a non-themed set, with a card count that’s about the same as the official expansions (108 cards total, plus some blank cards for padding if needed), witch I hath dubbed “Cords Against Harmony Vol. 1”; original, I know.cords

Cords Against The 80’s

80sIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times… It was the 80’s; parachute pants were cool, the crack epidemic was in full swing, kids were playing with Transformers, and America saw the introduction of the dumpster baby. So why not memorialize these great moments in American history with a custom expansion pack for Cards Against Humanity? Right!?cords

Cords Against Trekkies

trekkiesCAH, the final frontier. This is a party game designed for horrible people. It’s continuing mission: to explore strange new words, to seek out new humor and new bastardizations, to boldly say what no one has said before.”

It seems that the “Ferengi Rules Against Harmony” cards I made were a huge success, and I had several people ask if I had plans to do any other Star Trek themed cards. Well… I did, and here they are. I took some time, worked out some (hopefully) funny phrases for the game, and put together my very own crappy little Star Trek expansion for Cards Against Humanity.cords

Ferengi Rules Against Harmony

ferengi
126 Cards: 110 Black, & 16 Black Black.

One of the most obvious themes for a pack that immediately jumped to mind were the Ferengi “Rules of Acquisition” from the Star Trek universe. I had seen a couple of posts on various websites saying that they would make perfect “Black Cards”, but had not found more than a few that people had made into game cards. With all the nerdy friends that I have I thought this would be a great hit, so set out to find a full list of the Ferengi “Rules of Acquisition”. With the huge fanbase that Star Trek has, it wasn’t hard to find; thank goodness, because I really didn’t want to take the time to watch every episode of the various Star Trek series’ and write them all down one by one.cords-black

orderdownload

With the help of a couple of fan-made websites I was able to quickly compile a list of all the documented Rules of Acquisition, and work them into a format that would work for the game. I tried my best to stick to the “noun/gerund” format of the game, so this required that a couple of them be slightly reworded, but only in the sense that the “blanks” needed to be able to accommodate a noun or an ing-word phrase.

While the Cords Against Trekkies set consists of a fair mix of both Black & White Cards, be warned the Ferengi Rules Against Harmony consists solely of Black Cards based on all of the known Ferengi Rules of Acquisition, and will add to your Black Card count immensely. cords
